Day 7
- Thursday 16th August 2012
Tibooburra
to Cameron Corner
Distance Traveled 148kms
We
only had a short distance to drive today so we had a later take off. It was nice to sleep in and have a relaxing
take off. We stopped and looked at the
old shearing station and swing bridge.
From here we dropped into town to fuel up and grab supplies. It was nearing midday so it was time to head
for the corner. The roads for the first
part were very nice till we passed the road plant group and then from there the corrugations started. we found a clay
pan along the track so we stopped for a brief photo and before getting into
national parks we collected fire wood.
From here it was about 40kms to camp so after a brief stop at Fort grey
which is a nice national park camping area we pushed on into camp. We arrived at the dog fence which indicates
the boarder to cross and find Cameron Corner and camp. We took photos as we passed through into QLD
then walked over to the post which is the point at which QLD, NSW and SA meet. We took photos celebrated being there and then
went to the corner store to find out about camping. We got a powered site right behind the store
with a camp kitchen ready to be used. It
was a warm afternoon so we set camp threw on shorts and enjoyed the sun. We all had early showers then began the fire
to cook the roast. Our roast was
spectacular we even got crackling. We
spent the rest of the evening around the fire keeping warm.
Roads are open, off we go.
